Hom is where the Om is... online Yoga Class with Marci
~About Marci and her classes~
Marci has always been a trailblazer and followed her own intuition. This led her from college to backpacking alone around the world, working with orphaned chimpanzees, and, after many adventures, settling in Durham (originally working at the Duke Lemur Center). Marci fell in love with yoga in her twenties, and has practiced and taught ever since. In addition to being a yoga therapist and instructor, she's also an innovative jewelry and mixed media artist. Marci continues to blaze her own nontraditional path through the world, and brings her humor, creativity, and innate nurturing personality into her yoga instruction.
Marci incorporates her training from Yoga, Pilates, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to create multidimensional classes that move the body skillfully as well as ease the mind. In her classes, students are encouraged to move with awareness, self-compassion, and non-judgment. She brings her unique style to create unusual but intuitive transitions and movements (which help keep the brain flexible too).
Marci clearly demonstrates all moves, proper alignments, and modifications to make poses and transitions easier or harder, so students continue to grow stronger and more agile at their own pace. She also takes the time and cares to learn about the bodies, minds, and needs of her yoga students to help make yoga accessible, enjoyable, and beneficial to all yogis who take her classes. She thinks her yoga community is the bomb (and it is).
"Marci is one of the most engaging, compassionate teachers around. Her serene demeanor sets the right tone for calm in this crazy world. Drawing upon her many years of experience she expertly guides each and every person to practice within their capabilities without promoting any competitive edge. I too, am a yoga teacher and always look forward to her classes."

"Marci is a wonderful teacher for people at all levels of experience. She always provides modifications for those with any challenges (mine include bad knees), and leads class without judgment and with humor."

"Marci is the reason I started and stick with Yoga classes! It took me a year of watching her walk my office with a yoga mat in hand to get up the nerve to attend my first class, as my misconception of yoga was that it involved being tied into a pretzel. Marci was inviting, engaging, and very compassionate to a complete beginner like me. I enthusiastically endorse Marci's Yoga and Yogalates classes!"

"I took Yogalates years ago with Marci Lew and loved it! I was so excited to have the opportunity to take classes with her again online. I took the first class and found Marci to be her usual nurturing, creative, compassionate self and plan to continue as long as she offers the classes. Marci’s approach is perfect for anyone who likes both yoga and Pilates and would enjoy this creative combination."
